Potsdam, 23 June 2026
In Brandenburg, only 17.2 percent of degree programs are admission-restricted for the 2026/2027 winter semester, as an evaluation by the CHE Centrum für Hochschulentwicklung shows.
This puts Brandenburg well below the national average of around 32 percent. Nationwide, the share of admission-restricted degree programs has declined overall in recent years. In the 2018/2019 winter semester, according to the CHE, around 41 percent of degree programs in Germany were still admission-restricted.
A degree program is considered admission-restricted when there is a Numerus Clausus (NC), a selection process, or an aptitude test. For the analysis, the CHE evaluated entries from the nationwide HRK Hochschulkompass database as of the end of May 2026. They apply to the 2026/2027 winter semester.
