The OPEC+ oil alliance plans to raise daily oil production by around 188,000 barrels from September, according to insiders, and is not planning any further increase until the end of the year.
Background of the production expansion
According to information from within the cartel, OPEC+ is preparing an increase in production of around 188,000 barrels per day from September. As persons familiar with the matter explained, no further expansion of production should occur until the end of the year following this step. Official confirmation from OPEC+ is still pending.
The background to the decision is the alliance's strategy of responding to rising oil demand during the summer months while simultaneously keeping the world market stable. With the increase of 188,000 barrels per day, OPEC+ would bring back to the market part of the production capacity previously held back. The exact distribution of the additional volumes among the individual member countries is not yet known.
