US software company Oracle eliminated around 21,000 positions over the past fiscal year, reducing its workforce by 13 percent, as shown in the annual report published on Monday (Reuters, 6/23/2026).
As of the reporting date of May 31, Oracle counted 141,000 employees, compared to 162,000 the previous year. The job cuts therefore hit the company to a significant extent and continued a trend that has gripped the entire technology industry.
According to the annual report, costs for severance payments and other restructuring expenses totaled $1.84 billion in the past fiscal year. In the previous year, they had amounted to $374 million. The increase in restructuring costs underscores just how profound the transformation at the software company is.
