Vienna, June 24, 2026
On the occasion of Peter Alexander's 100th birthday, ORF is broadcasting several film classics, a documentary, and a special focus program in June and July, while Sony Music is releasing a tribute album featuring 70 hits.
Programming on ORF
The Austrian entertainer Peter Alexander, born on June 30, 1926, in Vienna as the son of a bank clerk, would have turned 100 on Tuesday, the day after his birthday Sunday. To mark the occasion, ORF has put together an extensive program that honors his cinematic and musical achievements. Four film classics form the cornerstones of this homage.
The four film classics "Im Weißen Rössl," "Saison in Salzburg," "Die Abenteuer des Grafen Bobby," and "Charleys Tante" will air on ORF 2 on June 27 and July 4, starting at approximately 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. ORF III complements the offering and will show numerous films starring Peter Alexander in July. The channel is thus drawing on part of the cinematic legacy Alexander created with director Franz Antel, who brought him to film in 1954, and with stars such as Caterina Valente, Waltraut Haas, Gunther Philipp, Vivi Bach, and Christiane Hörbiger.
