The employees of ORF III have, in an open letter addressed to the designated Ingrid Thurnher and Clemens Pig, opposed plans to cut the programming budget of the culture channel from its current level of around 15 million euros by half.

The staff of ORF's culture channel ORF III are raising the alarm. In an open letter, the employees warn of an unprecedented halving of the programming budget, which currently amounts to around 15 million euros. The staff are turning directly to Ingrid Thurnher and Clemens Pig with an urgent request to reconsider the savings plans. According to its own figures, ORF III produces 2,300 hours of original programming annually, including live broadcasts of concerts and cabaret, comprehensive information and history programs, and regional culture.
