In the first five months of 2026, 1,405 donor organs were registered in Germany, while 452 people donated organs after their death – an increase of around 12 percent in organs and 6.1 percent in donors compared to the same period in 2025.
The German Foundation for Organ Transplantation (DSO), based in Frankfurt, has presented the current mid-year figures. According to these, a total of 1,405 donor organs were recorded between January and May 2026. The number of organ donors, i.e., deceased individuals from whom one or more organs were removed, was 452 in the same period. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, this represents an increase of approximately 12 percent in organs and 6.1 percent in donors.
