The Mayor of Paris, Emmanuel Grégoire, announced on Tuesday, 9 June, that 132 after-school care workers in Parisian schools have been suspended since 1 January, including 52 on suspicion of sexual or sexist violence.
According to its own statements, the City of Paris has been shaken by a scandal over assaults in school after-school care. Since the beginning of the year, 132 care workers in Paris have been suspended – a figure the mayor gave during a visit to a school in the northwest of the capital. In 52 of the 132 cases, the suspicion is of sexual violence, according to Grégoire's remarks: "dont 52 pour 'suspicion de violences sexuelles ou sexistes'" and "Darunter seien 52 Fälle wegen des Verdachts auf sexualisierte Gewalt".
