Vienna, 01 October 2026
The partners of the reform coalition in Austria announced on Wednesday in Vienna that they had reached agreement on a package of measures designed to simplify the day-to-day work of municipalities and speed up the digitalisation of administrative processes.
The members of the reform coalition – ÖVP and SPÖ – presented to the press their agreement on a set of provisions intended to ease the burden on municipal administrations. The package covers several areas: digital procedures, data transmission between authorities and the simplification of reporting obligations weighing on citizens as well as on town halls. The coalition partners thus intend to respond to a long-standing demand from municipalities, which point to the growing complexity of their tasks.
