The Pensionsversicherungsanstalt (PVA) on Monday adopted a uniform, Austria-wide binding directive for all medical assessors (Gutachterinnen und Gutachter) acting on behalf of the pension insurance, effective from 1 September.

A Uniform Framework for All Assessors

With the unanimous decision of the Administrative Board, the pension insurance is enshrining principles such as professional quality, objectivity, transparency, and respectful treatment of those concerned in a binding requirement applicable to all appointed medical experts. In a press release, the PVA justified the step by pointing to the far-reaching consequences of medical assessments for the living situations of insured individuals. Therefore, "fachliche Qualität, Objektivität, Transparenz und ein respektvoller Umgang" with those concerned were "umso wichtiger", the institution explained.
