Investigations into the cause of the accident

The car broke through the shop's display window at the town square. Images from the scene show the car in the demolished display window. The police did not initially release information on the amount of property damage.

Rescue services and police were deployed to secure the accident site and provide medical care to the two occupants. Both pensioners were taken to hospitals — the 84-year-old for evaluation, and his wife with injuries.

Officers secured evidence at the scene and interviewed witnesses. According to police, investigations are also being conducted into the senior's fitness to drive. Whether a health issue at the wheel played a role is part of the ongoing investigation.
