In the Vogtland district near Plauen, numerous firefighters are battling a forest fire across an area of roughly seven hectares, which the city classifies as the largest blaze in the past 30 years.

The forest fire broke out in the area of a rewilding forest and has, according to the city of Plauen, spread to about seven hectares. For the emergency crews, this represents the largest fire in the region over the past three decades. The extinguishing operations are ongoing.

The city described the situation as extremely demanding. Dense forest, in part difficult terrain, and the size of the fire zone posed significant challenges for the firefighters. Numerous personnel from the Vogtland district and beyond are deployed to bring the flames under control.
