Architectural Ambition and Historical Responsibility
The birthplace of Adolf Hitler at Salzburger Vorstadt 15 in Braunau am Inn has had a turbulent history. After years of discussion about the future of the house, the police are now moving in. The building is to house the police in the future, as the available information indicates.
In the 1970s, the HTL Braunau was a tenant in the house, and later, until 2011, Lebenshilfe Oberösterreich. Afterward, the building was extensively remodeled to do justice to its historical burden. The architectural design was carried out by the firm Marte Marte Architekten from Feldkirch, which based the redesign on the building's 17th-century historic facade.
