Police shot and killed an escaped tiger in Dölzig near Leipzig after the animal attacked and seriously injured a 73-year-old man who had been working at the private facility where the big cat was kept.

The tiger, identified as a nine-year-old male named "Sandokan," broke free from a privately owned enclosure in Schkeuditz, an industrial area near Leipzig. According to authorities, the animal was later shot in a garden area after it attacked the man, who suffered severe bite and scratch wounds.
Rescue teams, operating under police protection, entered the enclosure to retrieve the injured man, who was rushed to a hospital. A police spokesperson confirmed the victim was "legitimately" present in the facility at the time of the attack, describing him as a helper associated with the property.
