Roughly six and a half weeks after a privately kept tiger escaped in the Saxon town of Schkeuditz, authorities have removed six more animals from the enclosure and handed them over to an animal welfare organization.
The Nordsachsen district office announced on Wednesday that a total of six big cats had been removed from the private enclosure in Schkeuditz. „Sechseinhalb Wochen nach dem Ausbruch eines privat gehaltenen Tigers im sächsischen Schkeuditz haben die Behörden sechs weitere Tiere aus dem Gehege geholt und in spezielle Transportboxen gebracht worden. Die Tiere seien sediert worden," the authority's statement said.
According to the information, the animals were to be driven to a rescue facility of the organization Animal Advocacy and Protection (AAP) in Spain. The organization specializes in the intake and placement of exotic big cats and, according to the authorities, is taking over the further accommodation and care of the animals.
