According to the Postbank Digital Study 2026, presented on Thursday, average weekly internet usage in Germany has decreased to 67.4 hours, about five hours less than in the previous year.
For the study, Postbank states that a total of 3,050 people in Germany were surveyed between April and May 2026. The sample was weighted by federal state, age, and gender and is representative of the population, with the 2022 microcensus from the Federal Statistical Office serving as a reference.
The decline affects several areas of daily digital use. Weekly mobile internet usage thus fell from 25.7 to 23.9 hours. The regular use of social networks like Instagram or TikTok also decreased from 71 to 64 percent. Messenger services and watching YouTube videos also recorded slight declines.
