Vienna, 01 July 2026

For the first World Cup Round of 16 match involving Austria since 1954, Austria and Spain will face each other. Numerous public viewing locations in Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland are inviting fans with big screens and food and drinks.

Austria has made World Cup history: For the first time since 1982, the national team advanced past the group stage and has reached the Round of 16. After the dramatic 3:3 draw against Algeria, which sparked exuberant celebrations in Kansas City, the journey continues against Spain — a match that kicks off on Thursday at 9 pm.

Public Viewing in the Heart of Vienna

Those who don't want to follow the clash from home have several options in Vienna. Up to 750 visitors can watch the World Cup showdown on the "Löwenherz" terrace and at the Neue Bastei of the Kasematten. With free seating and no reservations, a 120-inch big screen will broadcast the match, while the "Löwenherz" team provides refreshments with three bars and food stations.
