Qatari-led regional mediators are urging a diplomatic agreement, according to the US news outlet Axios, to get the stalled talks between the US and Iran back on track.

Regional mediation efforts aim to prevent a new outbreak of war after the US midterm elections on the 3rd. Axios reported on Wednesday, citing the mediators, that they were calling for "a diplomatic agreement" to get the talks between Washington and Tehran moving again.

The current efforts follow a series of failed contacts between the US and Iran. In addition to Washington and Tehran, the reporting also identifies J.D. Vance and Abbas Araghchi as central figures in the diplomatic process. The US and Iran are therefore engaged in talks that, according to the current reporting, have stalled.
