The United States military struck targets inside Iran again on Wednesday, targeting a facility that posed a threat to US forces and commercial shipping, according to reports from CNN and CBS News citing an unnamed US official.

The strikes come just days after mutual attacks between the warring parties occurred in the Strait of Hormuz area, a critical chokepoint for global oil shipments. The US military also intercepted drones launched from Iran, the reports said.

Shortly before the US media reports, explosions were reported from southern Iran. The Iranian news agency Fars reported on the Telegram platform during the night that three explosions were heard east of the city of Bandar Abbas on the Strait of Hormuz.
