A 51-year-old racing cyclist was seriously injured in a traffic accident with a turning car on Friday morning in Oberlienz in East Tyrol.
What the police have reported so far
According to the Lienz police station, the 51-year-old was riding her racing bike on Friday when the accident occurred in the municipal area of Oberlienz. A 29-year-old car driver had intended to turn left into a municipal road and was slowly edging his vehicle forward. In doing so, he noticed the cyclist too late.
As a result, the woman's right pedal caught on the car and she fell, according to the officers of the Lienz police station. The fall left the 51-year-old with serious injuries. After receiving initial care at the scene, she was taken to a hospital.
