An 18-year-old pedestrian was struck and injured by a car on a pedestrian crossing in Lienz's city center on August 28, 2026.

The accident occurred on the morning of August 28, 2026 on the Drautal Straße (B 100) in the city area of Lienz in East Tyrol. According to the current state of the investigation, an 18-year-old pedestrian who wanted to cross the zebra crossing was struck by a following car. The girl was injured and required medical care.

According to initial findings, an 18-year-old female driver had stopped before the pedestrian crossing to allow a cyclist to cross the road. A vehicle traveling behind her apparently recognized the situation too late and rear-ended her. Police explicitly spoke of a "Auffahrkollision" (rear-end collision) at a pedestrian crossing.
