In the second quarter of 2026, real wages in Germany increased by 1.5 percent compared to the same quarter of the previous year, as the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) announced on Thursday in Wiesbaden.
In the second quarter of 2026, real wages in Germany increased by 1.5 percent compared to the same quarter of the previous year, as the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) announced on Thursday in Wiesbaden. Nominal wages rose by 3.3 percent, while consumer prices were 1.8 percent higher than in the previous year.
This continued the trend of rising real wages that Destatis had already measured in the preceding quarters. The Wiesbaden-based authority stated verbatim: „Die Löhne in Deutschland steigen weiterhin schneller als die Verbraucherpreise. 1,5 Prozent mehr als ein Jahr zuvor hatten Arbeitnehmerinnen und Arbeitnehmer im zweiten Quartal 2026 zur Verfügung, wie das Statistische Bundesamt errechnet hat.
