Milan, June 15, 2026
According to reports by the Portuguese sports newspaper "A Bola" and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Italian top-flight club AC Milan is on the verge of signing Ruben Amorim as new head coach, marking a U-turn compared to the candidates recently being discussed.
Both sides have reportedly reached a basic agreement on a contract until 2028 with an option for an additional season, as the Portuguese sports newspaper "A Bola" and Romano reported on Monday on platform X. The 41-year-old Amorim had left English record champions Manchester United in January and has since been on the sidelines without a club.
In Milan, Amorim would succeed Sérgio Conceição, whose contract had expired at the end of the season. In his career so far, the Portuguese has coached Sporting Lisbon, SC Braga, and Casa Pia AC, among others. With Sporting, he won the Portuguese league title in 2021 and subsequently made a name for himself as one of the most sought-after coaches of his generation.
