The Office for the Protection of the Constitution in Brandenburg has put the number of right-wing extremists in the state at a new high of 5,890 people – an increase of 61 percent compared to the previous year, according to the domestic intelligence report for 2025 presented in Potsdam on Friday.

The report was presented by Interior Minister Jan Redmann (CDU) and Head of the Office for the Protection of the Constitution Wilfried Peters. According to them, the so-called potential number of individuals in the right-wing extremist sphere increased significantly compared to the previous year. The Office for the Protection of the Constitution counts, among others, members and supporters of relevant parties, comradeships, and loose networks within this potential.
