Russia once again bombed several major Ukrainian cities with airstrikes overnight into Tuesday; at least five people were killed and about 20 others injured in Zaporizhzhia.

According to military governor Ivan Fedorov, the attacks struck the southern Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia with full force. Fedorov announced via the messaging service Telegram that at least five people lost their lives and a further 20 injured were to be mourned. The figures were confirmed by five independent sources.

Explosions and airstrikes were also reported overnight from other regions of Ukraine. Affected areas included the capital Kyiv, the second-largest city Kharkiv in the east, the northern city of Chernihiv, and the city of Sumy in the northeast. Vitali Klitschko, the mayor of Kyiv, informed the population about the air situation and protective measures.
