On the night of June 1-2, 2026, Russia launched new massive strikes with ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones against the Ukrainian capital Kyiv as well as several other cities in the country, causing deaths and numerous injuries.
The attack, conducted in several waves, hit the center of the metropolis of three million inhabitants, where powerful explosions were heard during the night. According to military administrator Tymur Tkatschenko, who released the figures on Telegram, at least one person was killed and twenty others injured in Kyiv in this new Russian air offensive.
The capital's mayor, Vitali Klitschko, stated that people could be trapped under the rubble. Several buildings were damaged and caught fire in the city, including large residential towers, local authorities indicated.
