Kyiv, 02 July 2026

Russia launched a large-scale combined missile and drone attack on Kyiv overnight into Thursday, killing at least 11 people and injuring dozens, with residential buildings, infrastructure and a hotel damaged across multiple districts of the capital, Ukrainian officials said.

The strikes, which used ballistic and cruise missiles alongside drones, sent explosions echoing across Kyiv for hours and prompted the city's air defenses into repeated action. On Telegram, Mayor Vitali Klitschko wrote: "Kyiv is under attack from ballistic missiles and UAVs," adding that blasts could be heard across the city. Agence France-Presse journalists in central and eastern Kyiv reported hearing more than a dozen explosions during the assault.
