Ukraine's Ministry of Defense said on Friday that its air defenses downed around 5,300 drones and missiles last month, just under 60% of the nearly 9,000 drones and projectiles fired by Russia in the same period.

Calls for more air-defense systems

The remaining roughly 40% of projectiles — close to 3,700 — passed through or hit their targets, according to the data released by the ministry. The interception rate, while substantial, leaves Ukrainian cities, energy infrastructure and frontline positions exposed to repeated strikes.
