At the Salzburg Festival, a new production of Mozart's "Così fan tutte" can be seen, which director Christof Loy — together with Johannes Leiacker, responsible for set and costumes — has conceived along the lines of a consistent minimalism.

The staging places its entire trust in the interplay of singers, orchestra, and a strict visual concept. At the center is an almost empty stage, which is counterpointed in the second act by a surprising set change.

Stage as Silence

The musical direction lies with Joana Mallwitz, who shapes Mozart's score precisely and transparently with the Festival Orchestra. The cast — including Bogdan Volkov as Ferrando, Andrè Schuen as Guglielmo, Lea Desandre as Dorabella, along with other ensemble members — renders the famous ensembles with great clarity.
