McGinn saves Scotland after McTominay's shot hits the post
Scotland opened Group C with a 1-0 (1-0) win over Haiti. The goal of the day was scored by John McGinn of Europa League winners Aston Villa in the 28th minute. The Scots, who had last participated in a World Cup in France in 1998, thus celebrated their first World Cup win since 1990.
After a rocket from Scott McTominay slammed against the post in the 17th minute, John McGinn did better eleven minutes later. Ché Adams plucked down a long ball and set up Gannon-Doak. His cross landed back with Adams, who failed to beat Placide. The rebound fell to McGinn, whose shot deflected into the goal.
