Altach, June 24, 2026

The SCR Altach has extended the contract with head coach Ognjen Zaric ahead of schedule, as the club from Vorarlberg announced on Wednesday.

The 37-year-old Zaric has been head coach of Altach since January 2026 and has revitalized the club during this time. Under his leadership, Altach secured survival in the Bundesliga with five wins and six draws in 15 league matches. He also led the team to the final of the ÖFB Uniqa Cup, which was lost to LASK only in extra time.

On the way to the cup final, Altach under Zaric eliminated, among others, Sturm Graz and Red Bull Salzburg. These results also convinced the club's officials, who have now announced an early extension. The exact duration of the new contract was agreed to be kept confidential.

Stints under Zaric

Sporting director Philipp Netzer was more than satisfied with the development. He showed from the very first minute that he fits in with us perfectly both personally and professionally, said Netzer about Zaric. He also emphasized: "Er hat die Mannschaft sofort weiterentwickelt und eine außergewöhnliche Saison mit Klassenerhalt und Cupfinale mitgeprägt."
