Ried, 19 May 2026

SV Ried defeated Wolfsberger AC 2-1 in a tense Bundesliga play-off semi-final on Tuesday, setting up a decisive two-legged final against Rapid Wien for a Europa League qualification spot.

Kingstone Mutandwa emerged as the hero for Ried, scoring both goals in the final minutes of the match. His 80th-minute opener was canceled out by WAC's Sulzner in the 87th minute, but Mutandwa struck again in the 93rd minute to secure the win.

The victory marks Ried's first appearance in the play-off final since the system was introduced. They last participated in European competition in 2012, when they were eliminated by Legia Warsaw in the Europa League third qualifying round.

Ried coach Maximilian Senft acknowledged the physical toll on his squad: "Wir sind schon sehr am Zahnfleisch unterwegs ehrlicherweise" (We're really running on fumes to be honest). Despite the fatigue, he praised his team's fighting spirit and tactical improvement throughout the season.
