Kitzbühel, 02 August 2026

The search for an 81-year-old pensioner from Kitzbühel who had been missing since the previous day ended in the night of 1 August 2026 with the recovery of a body from the Schwarzsee.

As the police announced on 2 August 2026, the corpse was recovered from the water at around 1:13 a.m. This brought an end to a search operation lasting several hours that had begun on the late evening of 1 August. The authorities did not initially provide details about the exact circumstances of the swimming accident and the man's whereabouts during the day.

Specialist units from several organizations were deployed: water rescue, the fire department, the police dog unit, and the Eurinos dog team. The search covered the shoreline area and the water surface of the Schwarzsee, which lies within the municipal area of Kitzbühel. Only the combined deployment of divers and search dogs ultimately led to the discovery of the body.
