Senior found lifeless drifting in March: Bystanders began resuscitation

Investigations into the sequence of events underway

The Lower Austrian Red Cross was on scene with multiple emergency personnel. After handover by the first responders, the paramedics took over the further emergency medical care of the man. Subsequently, the patient was transferred to the helicopter, which took him to a suitable clinic.

The rescue helicopter "Christophorus 9" is an emergency medical helicopter operated by ÖAMTC Air Rescue, also stationed in eastern Lower Austria. It is regularly called to operations involving seriously injured or acutely ill persons when rapid transport to a specialist clinic is required.

The police have launched investigations into the sequence of events. Officers secured traces at the scene and questioned eyewitnesses about the course of events. Whether a medical emergency, an accident, or another circumstance led to the incident is currently still unclear.

Helicopter deployed

Local residents expressed dismay following the incident. The market town of March is located in the Marchfeld near the Czech border and is frequently visited in summer by walkers and those seeking recreation. There are currently no indications of third-party fault or a criminal background.

According to the emergency services, the rescue chain between bystanders, the Red Cross, and air rescue proceeded smoothly. The coordinated cooperation contributed significantly to the fact that the senior was able to be brought to the hospital alive, it was said from circles of the helpers.
