The Siemens Group is investing 300 million euros in expanding its sites in Frankfurt and Offenbach and aims to create around 700 new jobs in Hesse by 2030.

The sites in Frankfurt and Offenbach are set to grow significantly. As the company announced on Wednesday, 300 million euros will flow into expanding the production of electrical switchgear. These are considered a key technology for the energy transition and are used, among other things, in data centers, factories, and in electromobility. By 2030, around 700 new positions are to be created in production, logistics, and administration, spread across three sites in Frankfurt and Offenbach.

According to Siemens, the investment responds to the global boom in data centers, which is being further fueled by the increasing use of artificial intelligence. "The market for data centers is booming worldwide with growth rates well above ten percent," said Peter Körte, head of the Siemens Smart Infrastructure division, to which the Frankfurt and Offenbach plants belong. Data is generated in "large-scale industrial facilities with an enormous electricity demand," which is why next-generation switchgear is needed. "The next generation of data centers is being built right now," Körte continued.
