The Austrian Signa founder René Benko must answer to two proceedings at the Innsbruck Regional Court in autumn; alongside a first-instance verdict that has already been issued, a decision by the Supreme Court of Justice (Oberster Gerichtshof) on a further verdict is also pending there.
In addition to the main first-instance verdict, a second proceeding is pending against Benko at the Innsbruck Regional Court: the Tyrolean was convicted in December 2025 of fraudulent bankruptcy (betrügerische Krida) in a non-final ruling and sentenced to 15 months of conditional imprisonment. This verdict has not yet become final, as a decision by the Supreme Court of Justice (OGH) is still outstanding.
The fact that René Benko must appear in court twice in autumn stems from two separate first-instance decisions at the Innsbruck Regional Court. The first verdict is already final; in the second case, the court of first instance is awaiting the outcome of the OGH proceedings.
