The world number one Jannik Sinner defended his title on Sunday at Wimbledon, defeating Germany's top player Alexander Zverev after nearly four hours 6:7, 7:6, 6:3, 6:4 in the final.

With this victory, Sinner — who had already won the Australian Open in 2024 and 2025 — secured his fifth Grand Slam title overall and his 30th career title. Against Zverev it was his 11th win in their 15th head-to-head meeting; since the US Open round of 16 in 2023, the Italian had won ten in a row. The two met on grass for the first time; the 24-year-old had previously lifted the trophy at grass-court tournaments three times.

Zverev opened the match strongly and took the first set in a tiebreak 9:7, marking his first set won against Sinner in 2026. The second set also required a tiebreak, which went to Sinner. The defending champion then dominated, taking the third and fourth sets 6:3 and 6:4.
