World number one Jannik Sinner won the Wimbledon final against Hamburg's Alexander Zverev 7:6 (9:7), 6:7 (2:7), 6:3, and 6:4 on Sunday, defending his title from the previous year.

Starting Position: First German Wimbledon Finalist Since 1995

The final on the Centre Court of the All England Club on Church Road in London lasted 3 hours and 46 minutes. Sinner thus secured his fifth Grand Slam title and became only the second Italian to win the Wimbledon men's singles. For Zverev, who entered as the number two seed, it was his fifth final loss at a major tournament – only the triumph at the French Open a few weeks earlier had brightened his record.
