CSU party chairman Markus Söder assured in an interview with the Augsburger Allgemeine that minijobs will be preserved in Germany and described an abolition as wrong.
The debate over the future of marginal employment intensified over the weekend. CSU leader Markus Söder made clear in an interview with the Augsburger Allgemeine: „Die Minijobs bleiben.“ In doing so, the Bavarian Minister-President positioned himself against the recommendation of a government commission appointed by the black-red coalition, which wants to integrate minijobs into the statutory pension insurance and abolish their special status in tax and social law.
The commission had proposed redefining the previous earnings limit of 603 euros per month and largely abolishing minijobs. According to the will of the commission majority, exceptions should in future only be possible for school pupils. The coalition of CDU, CSU, and SPD had announced that it would implement the recommendations as closely as possible.

Söder argued that an abolition would be wrong and would severely damage important sectors. In doing so, he attacked the reform plans immediately after their presentation.
