Bayern's Minister-President Markus Söder was pelted with a tomato on the sidelines of an anniversary celebration in Bernau am Chiemsee and, according to the Deutsche Presse-Agentur, remained uninjured in the process.
The incident occurred in the evening at an event marking the 1,100th anniversary of the Upper Bavarian municipality of Bernau am Chiemsee. As the Deutsche Presse-Agentur reported, citing information from the scene, the Minister-President was pelted with a tomato during his appearance.
Officers from the Bavarian State Office of Criminal Investigation (LKA) intervened immediately and subdued the man before he was able to flee. The attacker was arrested and taken into custody. The background to the act and any possible motive were initially unclear.
