Guadalajara, June 12, 2026

South Korea won its second group-stage match at the 2026 FIFA World Cup against Czechia on Thursday at Estadio Guadalajara, coming from behind to win 2:1 (0:0).

From South Korea's perspective, the match in Guadalajara got off to a sluggish start. The team dominated the first half but lacked the necessary cutting edge and went into the dressing room goalless. Czechia withstood the period of pressure and waited patiently for its chances.

The Europeans delivered the decisive blow in the 59th minute. Following a long throw-in, Ladislav Krejci rose highest and headed the ball into the South Korean goal. The Czech lead was not entirely deserved up to that point, but it was efficiently crafted.

South Korea's response did not take long. Just eight minutes after falling behind, the Asians struck back: Hwang In-Beom scored in the 67th minute to equalize and bring his team back into the match.
