South Korea's leading index Kospi recorded a recovery rally on Thursday, driven by strong price gains from chip manufacturers Samsung and SK Hynix, after the market had previously come under pressure due to disappointing semiconductor figures and AI concerns.

After several trading days with significant losses, cautious optimism returned to the stock exchange in Seoul on Thursday. The Kospi rose noticeably, with the two heavyweights Samsung and SK Hynix providing the largest impulses. Both stocks had been among the most volatile in the Asian region in recent weeks, as investors reassessed the consequences of a cooling AI boom for the semiconductor industry.
