The U.S. space company SpaceX has presented a half-year report that continues to show high operating losses, while CEO Elon Musk and President and Chief Operating Officer Gwynne Shotwell point to growth opportunities in the Starlink satellite internet business.

SpaceX went public in mid-June with a record raise of 75 billion dollars. With an issue price of 135 dollars, Musk's company gave itself a valuation of nearly 1.8 trillion dollars on its market debut.

Despite this record IPO, the company is deep in the red according to the half-year figures now released. Operating losses were even higher than in previous quarters, because SpaceX is investing massively in expanding its fleet of launch vehicles, in the series production of Starlink satellites, and in the planned AI division.
