The chairman of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group in the Bundestag, Jens Spahn, has called on the SPD to finally implement the reform of working time agreed in the coalition and to switch from a daily to a weekly maximum working time.
Background: Eight-hour day under review
In an interview with the newspaper "Bild am Sonntag," Spahn addressed the coalition partner directly. He assumes "the SPD stands by this, just as we stand by the parts that are difficult for us, see pensions." The agreed flexibilization is necessary to get the economy going, Spahn said. Employers and employees must be able to regulate working times on their own responsibility, while protective rules remain in place. "If employers and their employees want to regulate this flexibly, there is still protection. And this flexibility is what we agreed on, the Union and the SPD."
