SpVgg Greuther Fürth earned a draw away to Bundesliga relegated side FC St. Pauli on matchday two of the 2. Bundesliga.
SpVgg Greuther Fürth have started the new 2. Bundesliga season with an away draw. At FC St. Pauli, who had been relegated from the Bundesliga the previous season, Alexander Zickler's side fought their way to a point. The result of the match underlines the squad overhaul the Franconians have undertaken this summer.
As many as five new signings were in the Fürth starting lineup on 9 August 2026. Between the posts, goalkeeper Florian Hellstern, who arrived from VfB Stuttgart, celebrated his first competitive match for the Cloverleaf. On the flanks, Krisztián Keresztes, newly signed from Nyíregyháza Spartacus, and Jannis Heuer, who moved over from Preußen Münster, defended. In midfield, Fürth also relied on Ole Pohlmann, who had been signed from Portuguese top-flight side Rio Ave, as well as Shinta Appelkamp, who came from Fortuna Düsseldorf.
