Following an act of sabotage on a telecommunications cable in Leverkusen, state security is investigating; according to a telecommunications provider, around 400 households experienced disruptions to their telephone network as a result of the incident.

Unknown individuals damaged a telecommunications cable in Leverkusen, triggering a major disruption to the telephone network. According to a telecommunications provider that operates the line, around 400 households were affected by the outages. Based on current findings, the precise location of the interference was in the area of Stixchesstraße.

The Cologne police confirmed that state security has taken over the investigation. Due to the potential political dimension of such acts – investigators always examine whether there could be an underlying motive – the state security division has been brought in. The police initially provided no information regarding possible suspects or a motive.
