Kitzbühel, 27 May 2026
Sepp Straka and Maximilian Steinlechner led the Austrian charge on the first day of the Austrian Alpine Open at Golfplatz Kitzbühel-Schwarzsee-Reith on Wednesday.
The 26-year-old Steinlechner, from Innsbruck, fired a 5-under-par 65 on the par-70 course to place himself inside the top 10 after the opening round. He started with three early birdies but also recorded one bogey and one double bogey during his round.
Straka, a two-time Ryder Cup winner from Vienna, finished with a 67. His second shot of the day landed in the water, but he avoided any further bogeys thereafter.
