Kitzbühel, 28 May 2026
Local favorites Maximilian Steinlechner and Sepp Straka carded strong rounds at the Kitzbühel-Schwarzsee-Reith golf tournament on Friday, while fellow Austrian Bernd Wiesberger struggled with a frustrating performance.
Strong Start for Local Talents
Steinlechner, a 26-year-old from Tyrol, posted a score of 5 under par on his card, fueled by significant fan support. "Im Großen und Ganzen bin ich schon sehr zufrieden," Steinlechner said, adding that performing well in front of a home crowd is simply fun.
His round included four birdies on the front nine, but two bogeys on holes 15 and 18 prevented an even better result. "Der Putt auf der Vier war geil, der ist mit der letzten Umdrehung reingegangen. Es war eine solide Runde," the Innsbruck native stated.
