A recent analysis has found that baby food pouches, known as Quetschies, can contain up to 11,000 microplastic particles per pouch, raising concerns about children's health.
The study, conducted by an independent laboratory, detected an average of 99 microplastic particles per gram of food in Danone products and up to 54 particles per gram in Nestlé products. This translates to more than 11,000 particles per Danone Quetschie and over 5,000 per Nestlé Quetschie, with up to 495 particles per teaspoon.
Greenpeace International has warned of 'alarming amounts' of microplastics in baby food from these major brands. The environmental group highlighted that over 80 chemicals were identified in the tested products, including 2,4-DTBP, a plastic-making chemical potentially harmful to hormones.
