Styria's health councillor Karlheinz Kornhäusl (ÖVP) has announced that Styria is to become a pilot region for specialist medical centers, with initial concepts already well advanced.

The plans are already anchored in a concrete framework. Through the Regional Health Structure Plan (RSG), the creation of three such specialist medical centers by the year 2030 has been planned in Styria, Kornhäusl explained on Monday at a background briefing. The establishment of several specialist disciplines at one location is also laid out in principle in the "reform partnership" between the federal government, the states, and social insurance providers, he said. Three of the locations have already been determined: "One in Western Styria, one in the north of Graz, one in Graz".
