Representatives of federal ministries, research institutes, statistical authorities and other institutions expect higher tax revenue for the federal government on the Tax Estimation Council, while Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil does not expect lasting relief for the federal budget.

According to the assessment of the bodies participating in the Tax Estimation Council, the federal government can expect higher tax revenue. The council comprises representatives of the Federal Ministry of Finance, the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs, five economics research institutes, the Federal Statistical Office, the Deutsche Bundesbank, the Council of Economic Experts, the finance ministries of the Länder and municipal associations.

The higher revenue would initially be positive news for public finances. At the same time, it does not automatically mean that the financial room for maneuver will increase permanently. The federal government must continue to plan spending and consider the development of both revenue and expenditure together.
